I don’t know what makes me hook up with
this book. The story is pretty common, two best friend, fall in love with each
other, but they never realize that until something has set them apart. We heard
this kind cliché story quite often.
Scarlet and Sean have been best friend
since their freshman year, it all start with a platonic kind of relationship
until suddenly Sean get dumped by his longtime girlfriend who he thought is the
love of his life. Long story short, Scarlet is trying to cheer him up over the
breakup until one day they accidentally slept together. There is a huge
misunderstanding here, while Sean thinks is just another one-night stand while
Scarlet thinks this is the beginning of their relationship. Thinking that she
been used and betrayed by her own best friend, her best solution is to run away
and start a new life in a new city with the help of her brother that she have
been ignored for a year and his handsome best friend who later have a quite
complicated story with her.
The thing that I enjoy is, the story is not
just focus with the two main character, Scarlet and Sean but also with the
other things that happen in their life which involve other minor character like
Scarlet’s brother, Ryan and his best friend Cortland. One time I just want to
slap Scarlet for always moping around for a man, but the other time I’m very
proud of her for standing on her own and be an independent woman and caring
sister. As for Sean, he’s fine character
to be, nothing from him that stand out the most, but I do get irritated for the
slow response that he make or every situation in this book.
Because this is a trilogy books, some
reader might be disappointed for the ending that we get in this book. So many
unsolved mystery and problem in this book, of course it makes you want to read
the next trilogy. But for me, I think I pass the next book, there are no excitement
or the thing that makes me want to read the next book.
